Sailing to Byzantium

Well actually flying, but I am off to Greece, specifically the northern part shown above, which at various points was part of Byzantium. The runner-up post title was "To Hell(-enic lands) and Back," but I thought it might send the wrong idea, as the opportunity is not exactly punishment.

An added bonus is being out of this country with limited news access during the national gatherings of the Episcopal and Presbyterian church in the unfortunate weeks to come, which is almost as good as being out of this country with limited news access in the weeks leading up to the 2008 presidential election.

My journey shant be as extensive as last summer, but having graduated from the camera-phone, I hope to provide more adequate documentation. I hired a model to show you the dramatic difference: Camera phone vs. Canon A540. Wow!

Essentially I will be at a two week academic seminar in a monastery near Thessaloniki, then to some of Paul's old haunts, and finally (should all the paperwork clear) to Mt. Athos. Be sure to tune in for a full report in a few weeks.
